Fun Ways to PracticeReading:
- Say the letters in the word, then read the word. - Clap the syllables of the word, then read the word smoothly. - Be a detective and look for rhyming words or words that start with the same letter on your list. - Play games with the words on cue cards: (1) Hide the cards around the house and then hunt for them. When you find a card, read the word on it. (2) Make two of each word and play memory. Every time you turn a card over, read the word. Writing: - Write out the sight words using a pencil. Then use smelly markers to trace the words. Or use regular markers to trace the words with a colour pattern or in a rainbow. - Say the letters of the word as you write them. - Spell the words using small objects around your house and/or yard: dry pasta, toothpicks, lego, coins, pebbles, twigs, etc. - Write the sight words on cue cards or small pieces of paper and decorate them. - Spell the words in a tray filled with sand or salt. *If you find more fun ways to practice, let me know and I will add your idea here for others to try! |
